What you should know about The Yoga Factory
During the years the studio has seen many changes, both in name and teaching staff. What has remained constant though is the high standard of teaching and the intimacy of a smaller studio in an ever expanding and overcrowded Yoga Market. Maximum classes are taught to below 20 students and although not ideal (Yoga is best taught one to one), this does afford the teacher the opportunity to notice you the student and to teach Yoga effectively. Mick Barnes who has been the owner director the complete time has over the years completed a 200hr Yoga diploma certificate. It's inviting and comfortable, most probably from the 100's of classes taught within. The energy of past and offer students and teachers live here. They arrive from different styles and backgrounds. Yoga is for everybody so its crucial that we cater to all types of students. As a student of The Yoga Factory we encourage that you find a teacher who meets your needs and that you feel a connection to them and the way they teach. To profit from Yoga the student needs to practice. Without a routine practice it is impossible for the teacher to teach you. It will eternal be a fight for both teacher and student. The benefits of Yoga come to those that have a willingness to practice. Yoga is feasible for anyone who really wants it. But Mont approach Yoga with a business mind looking for lordly gain. If you want to be close God, turn your heed toward God and practice Yoga.
Have an begin mind, see where your yoga practice takes you! (Students must divulge student cards upon request. The theme is explored through dharma talks, reflections on the modern relevance of yoga scripture, music, asanas (postures or poses), pranayama (breathing), and meditation. The largest segment of the class consists of asana practiced as vinyasa. In vinyasa (movement synchronized with breath and intention) the teacher guides the student through a vigorous sequence of poses. The exact sequence is left to the discretion of the teacher, but always includes inversions, such as headstand and shoulder stand. During the vinyasa phase, the teacher assists practitioners with hand son adjustments. The class concludes with a period of deep relaxation and meditation. Teachers present lots of variations and alignment instructions. Yin yoga is a slow paced style of yoga with postures, or asanas, that are held for longer periods of time. Yin yoga poses apply temperate stress to the connective tissues of the body the tendons, fascia, and ligaments with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility. A more meditative approach to yoga, yin aims at cultivating awareness of inner silence, and bringing to light a universal, interconnecting quality. Entry is by donation with all proceeds going to the Food for Life charity. During this 4 week course we will increase our practice attending twice a week. Each week we will introduce fresh asana and start to grasp sequencing. During this course we will increase our attendance to 3 times a week. This is a brisk, guided, led vinyasa class in which the teacher calls out the asanas and provides the breath count, but gives minimal instruction as to how to do the various asanas. The class offers a healthy rounded practice as a set sequence that includes a warm up, the setting of an lofty intention, Surya namaskar, standing asanas, twists, balances, backward bending, forward bending and inversions, as well as meditation and relaxation, and is designed to be completed in one hour. Workshops are an awesome way to refine your yoga practice. For the novice they are the best way to acquire the fundamentals of alignment and breathing for specific postures. And for the routine yogi workshops present the opportunity to benefit deeper knowledge of yoga and your own practice. The Yoga Factory is very excited to be presenting a range of workshops over the future months.
